As Christmas approaches, I wanted to share a gentle reflection and a heartfelt thank you.
This time of year can bring warmth, connection, and joy, but it can also stir grief, comparison, and quiet sadness. It’s easy to look at other families and feel as though we are missing something, or that what we have isn’t enough. But the truth is, no family is perfect. Every family carries its own joys, wounds, absences, and complexities, most of which are never visible from the outside.
Christmas isn’t about what we don’t have. It’s about noticing and appreciating what is here: the moments of kindness, the shared laughter, the small rituals, the simple presence of those who are able to be with us. And for those we miss, whether through passing, distance, or difficult relationships. It’s okay to hold them in our hearts while also accepting the reality of where things are.
We often don’t remember the gifts we were given, but we always remember how someone made us feel. Feeling seen, safe, respected, and loved matters far more than perfection or expensive gifts.
At the same time, it’s important to honour our own wellbeing. Love does not require self-sacrifice at all costs. Boundaries are not rejection—they are acts of care. They allow us to show up with honesty, rather than resentment or exhaustion, and they help protect the parts of us that need gentleness.
This Christmas, may we give ourselves permission to let go of comparison, to soften expectations, and to meet ourselves and each other with compassion. However your Christmas looks this year, it is enough.
I also want to take this opportunity to say a sincere thank you to everyone who has supported my business this year. To the women who come to classes and workshops, who show up on the mat with openness, courage, and curiosity, thank you. It is a privilege to guide you through yoga, to hold space for your growth, and to witness the strength, softness, and wisdom you carry. This work means more to me than I can easily put into words.
As I look ahead to next year, I feel deeply excited and grateful. I’m looking forward to expanding into new areas, offering more ways to connect, explore, and grow together. Your trust and support make this possible, and I don’t take that lightly.
However your Christmas looks this year, I hope it brings moments of peace, presence, and kindness—towards others, and towards yourself.
Wishing you peace, warmth, and moments of genuine connection.
With love and gratitude
Jess
P.S
I have added a very short restorative yin practice that is great to do after a heavy meal or when everything just becomes too much. Please listen to your body and take as much height under the body in these postures as you need. Check that you feel comfortable and relaxed.
