How Can Vision Boards Help You Manifest Your Dreams?

Updated: Apr 3, 2025

Imagine waking up every day with a clear vision of your goals and a heightened sense of motivation. This is the power of vision boards. They have become renowned not just for their aesthetic appeal but for their ability to help us align our thoughts with our life aspirations. In this post, we’ll explore what vision boards are, their benefits, and how to create a vision board that transforms your dreams into reality.

Understanding Vision Boards

A vision board is a creative collage of images, words, and affirmations that represent your dreams and goals. Think of it as a visual map that keeps what you aspire to achieve at the forefront of your mind. When you actively engage with your vision board, it stimulates your subconscious thought processes, helping you to pinpoint specific actions to take toward fulfilling those dreams.

For example, if you want to travel, a vision board can include images of destinations like Bali or Paris. By frequently seeing these images, you remind yourself of your goal and the steps needed to make it a reality, such as saving money or researching travel options. You will also start to notice opportunities that may not have been obvious before because the subconscious mind starts to filter the environmental information differently.

Todays science estimates that 95 percent of our brains activity is unconscious, meaning that the majority of the decisions we make, the actions we take, our emotions and behaviours, depend on the 95 percent of brain activity that lies beyond conscious awareness.

The power of the subconscious mind is so incredible that, according to Dr Bruce Lipton, biologist and author of Biology of Belief, the subconscious mind is 500,000 times more powerful than the subconscious mind with a capacity to process 20 million bits of information per second, while the conscious mind has the capacity to process only 40 bits of information per second. Now that’s a big difference!

So basically, it is our subconscious mind that is running our life! If you tell your subconscious mind that you’re worthless, or you can’t do it, it will believe you! If you tell your subconscious mind that you are worthy and capable, it will believe you! The subconscious mind doesn’t evaluate whether something is true or not, it just assumes that everything you tell it from your conscious mind is true. These beliefs most of the time then determine our behaviour we take. So by creating a conscious vision of the life or goals you’re aiming for and then engaging with it daily, the subconscious mind starts to believe most, if not all of it is true and possible and will start to create perceptions, opportunities and actions through the messages it sends back to the conscious mind. The subconscious mind also communicates through the language of the senses with pictures, sounds, emotions and smells. With this in mind, a vision is best created using the senses!

Benefits of Using Vision Boards

Enhancing Focus and Clarity

Creating a vision board clarifies what’s most important to you. By pinpointing your dreams—whether it’s achieving a career milestone, improving your health, or enhancing relationships—you can concentrate your energy on what matters most.

Research shows that individuals who clarify their objectives are 33% more likely to achieve them. Each visual or affirmation serves as a beacon, guiding your focus and eliminating distractions. As you work on your goals, you will notice a significant uptick in motivation.

Boosting Motivation and Positivity

A vision board acts as a constant reminder of your ambitions. The images and affirmations provide daily inspiration, encouraging you to take small steps toward your goals. For example, you might wake up each day inspired by the image of a fit person on your board, motivating you to exercise instead of skipping it.

Moreover, creating your board can be a joyful experience. It encourages positive thinking, making you focus on a life of abundance rather than limitations. Research from the University of Scranton indicates that only 8% of people achieve their New Year’s resolutions, but positive visual cues can increase the chances of success.

Daily Reinforcement of Goals

When your vision board is placed where you frequently see it—like your bedroom or workspace—it acts as an ongoing reminder of your aspirations. This daily visibility reinforces your commitment to your goals.

For instance, a quick glance might remind you to dedicate time to that new project or to connect with a mentor. Over time, small daily actions lead to significant results, as each decision stacks toward your ultimate objective.

Steps to Create Your Vision Board

Step 1: Reflect on Your Goals

Start by reflecting on your long-term goals in various aspects of life: career, health, relationships, and personal growth. Spend some time journaling about what you truly want. This step is crucial—it sets the foundation for the rest of the process.

Step 2: Gather Materials

Once you have clarity on your goals, collect materials. You can use a corkboard, poster board, or even an app to create a digital vision board. Gather magazines, printed images, and words that resonate with your aspirations. Consider how these elements will connect with your goals. How do the images make you feel and how do you actually want to feel-they need to align to the way you want to or imagine you’ll feel with these goals realised in your life. Remember emotions is a big part of the subconscious language and while a good image may look the part, it may not resonate with how it makes you feel. A good way to practice this and test it out is to imagine stepping in to the image-immerse yourself in your imagination and the idea of what the image may sound like, smell like, feel like?

Step 3: Curate Your Images and Words

This is similar to step two but this time lay the images out and if you can’t fit everything in, choose images and words carefully. Select visuals that inspire positive feelings and align with your goals. This step is personal; the board should reflect your dreams and how you want to feel in your life, not what others expect. Our feelings are the compass toward our thoughts and actions. If we believe we can, we are halfway there and the only way to believe is to plant it as it's real and already happened in the subconscious min d. The subconcious can't tell the difference between whats real or not.

Step 4: Assemble Your Vision Board

As you assemble your vision board, arrange the chosen elements in a way that feels appealing to you. Some people prefer organised layouts, while others enjoy a more spontaneous style. The key is to make it visually attractive and motivating.

Step 5: Display Your Vision Board

Find a visible location for your completed vision board. This might be on your bedroom wall, your office desk, or even as a screensaver. The goal is to see it regularly to remind you of your direction.

Using Your Vision Board Effectively

Engage with Your Board Regularly

Make it a daily ritual to interact with your vision board. Spend a few moments each day visualising yourself achieving the goals displayed. Close your eyes and immerse yourself in the emotions tied to your successes and lifestyle.

Update as Necessary

As your life evolves, so should your vision board. Feel free to add or change images and affirmations. This keeps it relevant and aligned with your current desires.

Combine with Action

While a vision board is a fantastic tool, combining it with action is essential. Sometimes its hard to take action so look at what feeds you to be motivated...is it time with friends? a bit of self care? and then don't think too much about the action, just do it, whether its writing a book (just start) or moving house (start packing) do something that makes it feel as if its already happening. Activate the sense of being in the dream, of living it already.

Your Journey Begins Here

Vision boards are more than colourful collages; they are transformative tools that can clarify your goals, boost your motivation, and keep your dreams front and centre.

By consistently engaging with your vision board and complementing it with actionable steps, you cultivate a positive mindset that makes manifesting your dreams possible. Gather your materials, reflect on your true desires, and embark on the rewarding journey of creating your vision board today! Let it be a constant source of inspiration as you work toward realising your aspirations.
